My Testimony
Ruby was my mother. It was my mama's unwavering faith, especially towards the end of her life, that ultimately guided me in discovering my own faith. The story is long, and I promise to share it with you in its entirety. But for now, here's the brief version.
It was my mother's death that prompted me to explore my relationship with the Lord. Her final words were, "Come on Jesus." She was confident she was going to be with Him. I, however, felt deep bitterness toward God for taking my mother from me and wanted nothing to do with Him. In my disbelief, I even questioned whether He was real. So, I took the time to delve into who He was and what He represented.
And I am so grateful I did.

The Father uses everything, even the bad stuff, to demonstrate His love for us. My mother's death was a pivotal moment that opened my eyes to His faithfulness, enabling me to grow in faith and ultimately deepening my understanding of trusting God.

I have lived with anxiety and depression for most of my life. After my mother passed, these feelings intensified, and there were many days when I could barely function. In my struggle, I sought all the typical distractions: drinking, partying, and surrounding myself with people who did not contribute positively to my life. It took far too many years for me to acknowledge that I had a problem. Fortunately, I was blessed with friends who could see what I couldn’t. They stood by me, sharing and helping me find the support I needed. This was a crucial step in my journey of growing in faith and trusting God in my struggles.

In various sermons, he had highlighted the necessity of praying the scriptures, a concept I initially found challenging to understand. This book he suggested has truly transformed my prayer life and helped me in trusting God more fully. I encourage you to check it out.

The "I am" statements made by Jesus embody profound Biblical truth that resonates deeply with me. When you truly reflect on these declarations, they are undeniably remarkable. Believers who have their faith and lives rooted in Christ possess all they will ever need. One of my favorite statements is, "I am the resurrection and the life." The death of my mother prompted me to pursue the Lord. Jesus being the resurrection and the life signifies that believers will not face eternal death. Every faithful Christian who has died will yet live, and those who are still living—trusting God and believing—will die, but not eternally.
