At RubysFaith, our mission is to share the love of Jesus Christ with believers and nonbelievers alike. With kindness, compassion, and authenticity we strive to create a culture of warmth, inclusivity, and love where everyone feels seen, heard and valued. Faith is a journey, and by grace God is inviting us along.
Ruby was my mother. It was my mama's faith, oddly at the end of her life, that helped me to find my own. The story is long and I promise to share it with you in its entirety. But for now the short version.
It was my mother's death that lead me to explore relationship with the Lord. Her final words were "Come on Jesus." She knew that she was going to be with Him. I however hated God for taking my mother from me. I wanted nothing to do with him. I didn't even think he was real. So I took time to explore who He was and what He was about.
And I am so glad I did.
If you don't already have a relationship with Him I would love to chat with you. If you do but still have questions; I wanna chat with you too. Let's do this discipleship thing together.
The Father uses everything, even the bad stuff.
My mother's death is what opened my eyes to the true goodness of God.
Pastor Curtis Andrusko
"When my anxious thoughts multiply within me your comforts delight me." Psalm 94:19 AMP
I have lived with anxiety and depression for most of my life. After my mother passed, it all kind of exploded and there were many days when I was barely functioning. I did all the typical stuff: drinking, partying, spending time with people who definitely did not make me better. It would be many years, way too many years, before I would even admit that there was a problem. I was blessed to have friends who could see what I wouldn't, and who stuck with me and helped me get the help that I needed.
My pastor J.D. Greear recommended reading the book 'Praying The Bible' to help me pray through the bible. He mentioned in a few different sermons about praying the scriptures from the bible. I'm a little ashamed to admit that I had absolutely no idea what he was talking about. He hosts a podcast called 'Ask the Pastor' where you can...Ask the Pastor questions. So I did. This is the book he recommended. Absolutely amazing and has definitely helped me with my prayer life. Check it out. Let me know what you think.
The "I am" statements made by Jesus, when you really think about it, are truly amazing. Those who have their faith and their life rooted in Christ have all that they would ever need. Of those statements, one of my favorites is "I am the resurrection and the life." As I have mentioned it was my mothers death that prompted me to pursue the Lord. Jesus being the resurrection and the life means that the believer will not experience eternal death. Every believer who has died will yet live, and everyone who is still living and believing will die, but not eternally.
